The change Dunfermline & West Fife needs
Next year, Fife will send a message that we have had enough of the past. That we have had enough of the managed decline of what by then will be 14 years of the Tories and 17 years of the SNP.
That people in Fife want change. They Deserve change.
My Dad was an electrician all his working life, for the nationalised Electricity Board, for the railways, for the RAF and, finally, at Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Palace.
He taught me the importance of hard work and public service. Of the importance of education and not being ashamed of being ambitious but that it must be for a purpose. That you should use whatever skills, knowledge and experience you have to help others.
I want to be a Labour MP because I want to help more people in more ways. To help create a place where opportunity, ambition and aspiration are provided, encouraged and met.
It is hard to imagine a part of Scotland that is not only looking for change but which has all the ingredients in place to embrace that change and become a driving force for the rest of Scotland.
Places like Dunfermline can succeed by advancing what we are known for, be that defence engineering, manufacturing and maintenance, heritage and tourism or professional services.
The last Labour government saved the Rosyth shipyard and it remains the largest single employer in the constituency, with diverse and secure work for both construction and maintenance of military and civilian shipping.
As the Labour MP for Dunfermline & West Fife, I would be on the side of local people, deliver for them and improve their lives and their communities.
