The Scottish Labour Party has selected local resident, Graeme Downie, as a candidate in the West Fife & Coastal Villages Ward for the local council elections that will take place on Thursday 5 May 2022.
Mr. Downie, lives in Torryburn and runs his own small business. He has said that if elected he will demand more, fairer and better services for all 13 villages in the Ward and will be working hard to speak to as many people across the Ward as possible during the campaign, both online and in-person.
Graeme Downie has campaigned for over 20 years on campaigns like abolishing the PIP 20 metre rule; bringing homes back in to use; and helping people claim back millions from energy companies. He believes those campaigns have taught him that to achieve the improvements people want to see, everyone should focus on what unites them, rather than what divides them.
Speaking after being selected, Graeme Downie said: “I am delighted and very proud to have been selected as a Scottish Labour candidate for West Fife and Coastal Villages. This community has been very lucky to have been served fantastically by Bobby Clelland for so many years. I hope to emulate the hard work he has put in to represent and stand up for people across the 13 villages in the ward.”
“I believe I have the right skills and experience to win here and to improve the lives of people across the area. I want to listen to what people here want, what they demand. If elected I will demand that, working for them and working with them.”
